The Nautor's Swan Trophy is raced for by a range of yachts built by Nautor's Swan racing under IRC handicap. The founding philosophy of the Swan 45 Class was to create a successful, sustainable and professional class that retains the core values of Nautor’s Swan – namely producing exceptional quality yachts with both racing and cruising capabilities. The Swan 45 was a completely new concept for One Design racing, combining success on the racing with comfort for cruising. Launched in 2001, it was in 2002 that the Swan 45 proved her individual racing prowess on the international circuit with impressive results at major regattas, including winning the Giraglia Rolex Cup and honours at the Zegna trophy. 2003 marker the first edition of the Swan 45 Area Championships in the Mediterranean, the Northern Europe and East America that culminated with the strong battle at the end of October 2004 to determine the first ever world champion of the Swan 45 Class in the wonderful Capri island. 2005 saw the Swan 45 Class race in many other competitive events around the world. The European and the American fleets took part in our flagship events, the Rolex Swan European Regatta and the Rolex Swan American Regatta, with a total of 20 boats participating in the different events. After four years in production over 50 boats are now sailing all over the world including USA, Japan, Italy, United Kingdom, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Australia, Russia, Argentina, achieving top results in major regattas and cruising some of the most beautiful areas of the world.
