The International Etchells is the affordable world-class one-design day racer. Both locally and around the world, weekend sailors compete side-by-side with yachting legends like Dennis Connor and John Bertrand. High performance upwind is complemented by downwind planing ability. The practical deck layout and sensible gearing make this powerful, lively and responsive boat a dream to sail by crews of three(or sometimes four). One design keeps costs down (e.g. limited sail acquisition), holding competition to ability. Easy and low cost maintenance keeps boats competitive over time. With almost 30 years of racing in Cowes and the UK, a comprehensive racing programme suits all sailors as local weekend sailing feeds into National, European and World Championships, with the Etchells 2007 World Championship held in Cowes.
